Season Review: Men's Squash Enjoys Historic Season

Signature Wins: Men's Squash began its season with an unblemished run through the 2018 portion of the slate, going 7-0 to begin the year.  In that initial stretch, Haverford surrendered just three individual games, posting sweeps against Boston University (Nov. 10), Colgate (Dec. 1), No. 41 Vassar (Dec. 1), No. 33 Bard (Dec. 8), and No. 45 Chatham (Dec. 8). At a weather-shortened run through the Pioneer Valley Invitational in Massachusetts, Haverford prevailed over No. 36 Stanford (Jan. 18), 6-3, competing in its second match of the day in its second state of the afternoon after previously falling to Wesleyan earlier in the day in Connecticut. The Fords showed their prowess against Bucknell, taking a home victory over the Bison on Senior Day (Feb. 2), before also matching up with the Bison at the CSA Team Championships in New Haven, Conn (Feb. 16). … Haverford took home a 7-2 win to reach the consolation final of the Conroy Cup.

Season Notes: Haverford finished sixth in the Conroy Cup grouping, and will take the No. 30 overall ranking into the offseason … This season marked the program's second straight competing for the Conroy Cup after previously reaching the division last in the 2012-13 season … The Fords' 13 wins this season tied for the second-most in program history, and Haverford's four losses were also the least in the history of the program …The Fords reached the 10-win mark for the fourth time in the last five seasons …  Senior Yash Singh became Haverford's all-time leader with 47 career wins, moving past former teammate Peter Dudley '18, as the record has now been bested two seasons in a row … Tim Saint '02 previously held the record for 16 seasons … Through his first two seasons, Fitz Dougherty holds the Haverford program record for best career win percentage (27-6, .818) … Tate Miller set the program single-season record for wins (15) and single-season win percentage (15-2, .882) … Davis Chase represented Haverford at the CSA Individual Championships in Providence, R.I. …Topping the ladder for the Fords, Chase ranks fifth in all-time winning percentage at Haverford (23-13, .639).

Looking ahead: Looking ahead to next season, The Fords look well equipped to continue their string of recent successes, despite losing the senior leadership of co-captains Ryan Dukarm and Alex Liu, along with the program's all-time career wins leader in Yash Singh. With Miller slated to be the sole senior on the ladder in 2019-20, the Fords will rely on current sophomores Davis Chase and Fitz Dougherty to take on an even larger leadership role after completing a pair of stellar seasons on the court at the top three flights.
