PHILADELPHIA – Haverford College men's squash student-athletes senior Yash Singh and sophomore Fitz Dougherty have been named to the 2018-19 Philadelphia Inquirer Men's At-Large All-Academic team, the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA) announced in a release on Tuesday morning.

The at-large teams take into account those student-athletes from area schools whose sports do not have a dedicated Academic All-Area team. In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better.

Singh is Haverford's all-time career leader in wins with 47, as he passed teammate Peter Dudley '18 for that distinction during the the CSA Team Championships this year. Singh finishes his career eighth all-time in Haverford history with a .603 winning percentage. The Skillman, N.J. native compiled a 13-4 record for the Fords during the 2018-19 season, appearing exclusively at the fourth and fifth flights on the Haverford ladder.

Off the court, the biology major serves as a research assistant at the Luning Prak Lab at Penn, researching features of antibody light chain repertoire in autoimmune patients. Singh also previously had a abstract on the role of palliative radiotherapy published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Dougherty holds the Haverford career winning percentage record after just two full seasons with the Fords, compiling an .818 mark thus far in his career (27-6). This season, he competed at the second and third flights on the Haverford ladder, going 6-3 at the second, and an unblemished 7-0 at the third. Dougherty, from just down the road in nearby Villanova, Pa., is a member of the Haverford Strength and Conditioning Student Committee, and is a Center for Peace and Global Studies (CPGC) fellow assigned to the Asa Wright Nature Center in the Arima Valley of Trinidad and Tobago.

In 2019, Haverford had another standout campaign, as the squad finished with its second-most wins in program history in 2018-19. The Fords amassed 13 wins and reached the 10-win mark for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

A total of four Haverford student-athletes were named to the men's at-large academic all-area team as Singh and Dougherty join Haverford cricket captain Nathaniel Rolfe, along with Academic All-Area Performer of the Year captain Gabriel Braun from men's fencing. The four honorees from the Fords tied Drexel for the most representatives on the men's side.
