MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The 32nd-ranked Haverford College men's squash team (7-10) dropped its opener at the CSA Team Championships on Friday afternoon to host No. 29 Wesleyan (7-10), falling by a 9-0 final in Conroy Cup action at the Rosenbaum Squash Center on the Wesleyan campus.

Wesleyan looked strong, playing comfortably in a rare true home game during a postseason event, with the Fords getting an extremely spirited performance from Aaryaman Jaising at the third flight to highlight the day. The first-year rattled off consecutive 11-5 and 11-3 victories over Abhinav Gupta, but Gupta responded with 11-3, 11-9, and 11-8 wins in the next three games to rally from the brink of defeat and steal a crucial tally for the Cardinals.

Kai Schinaman also grabbed a game from John Sutherby at the fifth flight, while Quinton Crawford was well on his way to a win at the top flight, taking 12-10 and 11-8 wins over Nimai Kini before Kini won the third game and Crawford was forced to retire due to injury. John Collins and Noah Tunis both also took their opponents to extra points in seesaw battles at the second and seventh flights before falling in straight games.

The Fords now return to action tomorrow, taking on No. 44 Vassar at 9 a.m. to begin what could shape up to be a very busy day of consolation bracket action at Wesleyan. The winner of the matchup between Vassar and the Fords will advance to a meeting against No. 43 Fordham at 4 p.m, with the winner of that contest advancing to the 5-6 playoff on Sunday at 10 a.m.
