MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - On the second day of the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships at Wesleyan, the No. 32 Haverford College men's squash team (9-10) registered a pair of 9-0 victories in Conroy Cup consolation bracket play, taking down No. 44 Vassar and No. 43 Fordham with emphatic sweeps.

No. 32 Haverford 9, No. 44 Vassar 0

Facing off with Vassar for the third time this season, Haverford dispatched the Brewers by a 9-0 final for the second consecutive meeting in an early morning contest, with action hitting the courts just after 9 a.m. Despite the relatively early call time, the Fords took sweeps at seven of nine spots on the ladder.

At the top flight, Noah Tunis was victorious over Sameer Mustafa in straight games (11-4, 11-8, 11-5). Aaryaman Jaising continued his standout rookie season with a blanking of Luke Chen (11-3, 11-5, 11-3) at the second flight. Peter Lehv stepped into the third flight and posted straight 11-7 game wins in his sweep of Patrick Looby. Kai Schinaman rallied to dispatch Razaan Lalji in four after dropping the first game by a 7-11 final at the fourth flight. He returned with 13-11, 11-9, and 11-3 wins to put another tally in the Haverford column.

Ben Schiltz also was victorious in four games at the fifth flight, as he turned away Jarid Haslinger (9-11, 11-3, 11-7, 11-9) and John Collins allowed just eight points at the sixth in a methodical blanking of Kyle Benson (11-4, 11-2, 11-2). At the final three spots on the ladder, the Fords allowed a total of just 19 points across those three sweeps. Matt Sullivan (11-2, 11-2, 11-3), Garret Fantini (11-2, 11-0, 11-1) and Zadoc Bond (11-3, 11-2, 11-4) all had imposing performances against the Brewers.

No. 32 Haverford 9, No. 43 Fordham 0

Returning for a late afternoon matchup against the Rams, the Fords wasted no time getting right back into their rhythm. Tunis was a winner over Nicholas Gilman at the top flight (11-9, 11-6, 11-8) and Jaising breezed past Henry Frawley at the second flight (11-7, 11-2, 11-8). Lehv looked strong again at the third flight (11-6, 11-7, 11-7) while Schinaman shook off a first game loss, responding with three straight wins (6-11, 13-11, 11-9, 11-9) in a performance that looked very similar to his battle against Vassar.

Schiltz was victorious in a quick three at the fifth flight (11-3, 11-5, 11-3) over Sofia Arseniev, while Collins got past Robert Cruikshank at the sixth (11-4, 11-5, 11-7). Sullivan dispatched Nicholas Choo (11-4, 11-5, 11-7), while Fantini again had no problems with Caleb Schumacher (11-3, 11-4, 11-4). Bond collected his second win of the day over Edwin Hess (11-2, 11-4, 11-7) at the ninth flight.

Haverford improves to 21-8 all-time against Fordham in a series that dates back to the 1994 season. Haverford has not dropped a match to the Bronx squashers since the 2000-01 season.

With the pair of wins added to their 2022-23 ledger on Saturday at the Rosenbaum Squash Center at Wesleyan, Haverford will advance to Sunday's consolation bracket final (fifth-place match) against No. 33 Connecticut College. The match is slated for a 10 a.m. start time at Wesleyan.
