Braun named to Liberty League Weekly Honor Roll

Full Liberty League Awards Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Liberty League Weekly Honor Roll selections keep on rolling for the Haverford College Men's Squash team, as first-year member Daniel Braun etched his name onto the Honor Roll, for the week that concluded on December 3, 2023.

The accolade is Braun's first career recognition, and the Fords second honor in the conference. Haverford recently joined the Liberty League as an associate member for men's and women's squash in the summer of 2023.

The Chicago, Illinois native showcased his prowess on the squash court notching his first two collegiate wins, with a stellar 2-0 performance for the Fords during the week. Braun was the only Scarlet and Black member to pick up two wins, fueling a 1-1 week and the first-ever Liberty League win for Haverford.

The team secured their inaugural Liberty League victory against the imposing No. 32 Vassar on Saturday, where they particpated in the Vassar Round Robin event at the Kenyon Squash Courts in Poughkeepsie.

Despite an early back-and-forth battle that saw the Fords suffer a defeat to Connecticut College 5-4, Braun's tenacity shined through at the number six spot as he rallied back against Alex Lorenzo-Cruz of the Camel and won the next three games, to win a thrilling four-game encounter (7-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-2).

In the triumphant match against Vassar, Braun rose up to the fifth flight, delivering a flawless performance and sweeping Razaan Lalji of the Brewers in three decisive games (11-8, 11-9, 11-4).

The two matches in Poughkeepsie wrapped up the 2023 section of the men's squash schedule, as Braun and the Fords will be back in action January 20, 2024, as they look to settle the score with Conn. College at Luce Field House in New London, Conn. The match is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m.
