Fords slotted 4th in preseason men's tennis conference poll

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Centennial Conference released its preseason men's tennis coaches poll on Friday afternoon and the voting puts the Fords from Haverford College into the fourth spot, where they finished in the final 2011 regular season standings.

Haverford accumulated 55 points to narrowly eke out an advantage over fifth-place Washington College which garnered 52 points. Johns Hopkins University, the reigning Centennial champion, picked up nine of 10 first-place votes to top the poll with 81 points. Swarthmore College was second with 71 points followed by Franklin & Marshall College with 66 and the other first-place vote.

The Fords were 9-10 overall and 6-3 in the league in 2011 and won their first-round conference tournament match-up against Washington. All-conference performers Kevin Caulfield (first-team singles and doubles) and Danny Himelstein (first-team doubles) are just two from a strong returning cast that hope to play into the league's postseason for the sixth time in the past seven years.
