HAVERFORD, Pa. – No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps showed off its national prowess Tuesday afternoon, taking down the Haverford College men's tennis team by a 9-0 final. The Fords (2-2) collected games at each positon and sent one match to a decisive10-point tiebreak. CMS improved to a perfect 9-0 on the year with its latest victory.

Haverford's best chance to win a match came at No. 6 singles where Caleb Mayer opened up his afternoon with a 6-4 win in the opening set. His opponent answered Mayer's early win with a 6-1 second set victory, forcing a 10-point tiebreak. In the tiebreak, Mayer found himself down 5-1 and never recovered in the eventual 10-4 tiebreak score.

The Fords also received a very nice outing from freshman Dais Nakayama at No. 2 singles. Playing against the No. 10 ranked player in division III, Nakayama scored six games over the two sets. His match included a tough 6-4 loss in the opener. Ishaan Prinz also took six games from his opponent, including a 6-4 second set.

Haverford's tightest match of the doubles play to open the afternoon came at No. 2. The freshman duo of Prinz and Nakayama salvaged five games on the afternoon before being subdued.

Men's tennis will now look towards its Centennial Conference opener on Saturday when the Fords travel to Gettysburg. That match is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m.
