HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's tennis team was an 8-1 victor in its regular season finale Monday afternoon against Rutgers-Camden. The Fords (10-5) swept through doubles play and took five of the six singles matches. The latest win gives Haverford 10 victories on the season. That mark is the fourth straight season in which the Fords have reached this benchmark.

The most convincing doubles win came from Jason Hirsch and Tim Mercier. Playing its first match together this spring, the Fords' No. 3 pairing allowed just one game during its victory. At the top doubles position, Eli Phelps and Benjamin Soloway notched their fourth win together this spring in their first match at No. 1 by an 8-3 score. No. 2 doubles saw another new pairing pull out an 8-6 win as Joshua Lederman and Jeremy Waterkotte teamed up for the middle victory.

Transitioning over to singles play, Haverford saw three players pick up their first singles victory in their first action inside the top six this season. Playing No. 1, Eliot Faust was a 6-1, 6-4, winner in his first ranked match. Matthew Buczek allowed just seven games in his No. 4 singles match, winning 6-3, 6-4. At the No. 5 singles position, Max Schotz pulled out a hard-fought 7-5 opening set before cruising in the second by a 6-0 margin.

At the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, Keisuke Sawada and Rafi Small each picked up their first wins of the spring, playing in their highest ranked matches of the season. Sawada allowed just two games in the second set for the win in the second slot. Small won by identical 6-3 scores at No. 3 singles. The Raptors got their lone victory of the night at No. 6 singles where Yancheng Dai fell in a hard-fought 6-4, 6-2 battle.

With the regular season officially in the books, the Fords will now turn their attention to the Centennial Conference Tournament. The fourth-seeded Fords will host the conference's first round match with fifth-seeded Dickinson at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Haverford will be looking to avenge an earlier 6-3 defeat to the Red Devils during regular season competition.
