BALTIMORE – The Haverford College men's tennis team saw its run through the Centennial Conference Tournament come to an end Saturday at the hands of top-seeded and nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins. The No. 17 Blue Jays won all three doubles matches and the first two singles matches in a 5-0 win with the teams playing to decision.

In the regular season meeting, it was the Fords' No.1 doubles pairing that came up with a team point against Johns Hopkins. Running its same No. 1 pairing out on Saturday, Luis Acaba and Harrison Elbert were unable to replicate that result and fell by an 8-3 score in that position. The Fords' No. 2 pairing of Dais Nakayama and Ishaan Prinz also fell by that same 8-3 final. Johns Hopkins made it a 3-0 lead with an 8-2 win at the third doubles slot.

The Blue Jays earned wins at No. 3 singles and No. 6 singles to move onto the Centennial Conference Championship match tomorrow. At No. 3 singles, Zack Mason earned a game in the opening set before falling in two.

The closest match of the singles competition which went unfinished with the match played to decision came at No. 4. Elbert was locked in a 5-3 first set battle with his Blue Jay opponent when action ceased. Acaba was up 1-0 in the second set after dropping the first. Nakayama's match at No. 2 singles was at 5-1 when the match reached decision, while Prinz picked up a first set game in his match in the fifth singles position.

Men's tennis finishes the spring season with an overall record of 11-6. The Fords finished the regular season by winning six of their last eight team matches before Saturday's defeat. That string of success moved the team all the way up to No. 15 in the latest ITA South Atlantic Regional rankings.
