Centennial Conference release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – After defeating the No. 50 player in the country, Haverford College men's tennis captain Josh Moskovitz has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week. Moskovitz's honor is the fourth weekly accolade of his career. His most recent honor came after his victory helped the Fords pull out a 5-4 win against New York University.

Before toppling the Violets' No. 1 player in singles, Moskovitz teamed up with fellow co-captain Kevin Yan as that pairing came away with an 8-6 win in the top doubles match. Continuing his strong play in singles, Moskovitz was victorious in straight sets as he won the top match by a 6-2, 6-4 score.

Currently ranked No. 12 in the ITA Atlantic South Region, Moskovitz has numerous accolades to his resume as he is a three-time All-Centennial Conference selection in both singles and doubles during each of his first three seasons with the Fords. Moskovitz is currently 7-1 in singles so far this season after advancing all the way to the quarterfinals of the ITA regional championships during the fall. He joined Yan in the quarterfinals of that championship doubles draw as well. Yan and Moskovitz are currently 4-3 when paired together in doubles so far this year. Moskovitz's 37 career wins in singles currently rank among the top 20 players in program history. He needs seven more wins throughout the spring season to move into the top 10 in school history.

Moskovitz is the second player from Haverford to receive player of the week honors so far this season as first-year George Jiang did so during the fall. Jiang was also crucial in the Fords' success this past weekend as he clinched the team's fifth point with a thrilling three-set victory at No. 3 singles against NYU.

Men's tennis is currently out in California as the college is on spring break. The Fords have scheduled a challenging slate that will feature five matches in four days. The first of those matches will be on Tuesday as the Fords travel to Redlands.
