Kevin Yan Named to CoSIDA All-District Team

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College junior men's tennis player Kevin Yan has been named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's At-Large team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

This award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. The at-large team takes into account schools that do not have their own dedicated team for a particular sport. Along with the other first-team academic all-district selections, Yan will now advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, with first and second-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in June.

An economics major, Yan was recently honored as the 2019 Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's tennis is his first season eligible for that award. However, Yan is no stranger to academic accolades as he started his career by earning the MacIntosh Award in the fall of 2017 which is presented to the top student-athlete from the first-year class. Yan has also been honored on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll and named an ITA Scholar-Athlete during each of his eligible seasons.

In 2019, Yan teamed up with Centennial Conference Player of the Year Josh Moskovitz to form the No. 1 doubles team for men's tennis. Earning first-team All-CC honors in doubles, that pairing went 13-10 together (7-1 CC) and had regionally-ranked wins against Southern Virginia and Swarthmore after advancing the regional quarterfinals during the fall. That duo is currently ranked 14th in the Atlantic South Region. In addition to earning his second all-conference nod in doubles, his first on the top team, Yan also became a three-time All-CC selection for singles. The 2017 Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year was named a second-team representative in singles this spring after going 16-9 overall, including a 7-2 mark in conference singles at No. 2 in the lineup.
