#38 Men’s Tennis Selected Third In Centennial Conference Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The No. 38  Haverford College Men's Tennis team has been selected third in the annual preseason Centennial Conference Men's Tennis poll, the league office announced this morning.

Entering year three, Head Coach Eric Spangler looks to lead the Scarlet and Black to the Centennial Conference Tournament for the 16th straight season.

The Fords are looking to build off a positive 2023 season, where they went 5-3 in the conference, 12-8 overall, and reached the Centennial Conference Semifinal for a remarkable 12th consecutive season. 

A substantial five All-Centennial selections will be returning for the 2024 season, as All-Centennial first team selection Stefan Johnson heads into year three with the Scarlet and Black.

Johnson will be joined by All-Centennial second team selections  Andreas Wingert, James McKenzie, Adam Chow, and Justin Minerva.

First-year Marko Arboleda will be entering his first spring with the Fords, after making waves in the college tennis scene during the fall. His stellar fall campaign propelled him into the Atlantic South Regional Rankings, with the Chappaqua, N.Y. product securing the 19th spot in the initial singles rankings unveiled in mid-November.

Defending Centennial Conference champions No. 13 Swarthmore was voted first in the Centennial Conference for 2024, gathering six first place votes and 62 voting points. Right behind the Garnet in the Centennial Conference Poll as well as the ITA rankings are No. 14 Johns Hopkins, who were chosen second. The Blue Jays collected the remaining three first place votes, as well as 59 voting points.

No. 38 Haverford (third, 47 points), Washington College (fourth, 39 points) and Franklin & Marshall (fifth, 37 points) round out the projected 2024 Centennial Conference playoff picture.

Gettysburg (sixth, 35 points), Ursinus (seventh, 21 points), Dickinson (eighth, 13 points), and Muhlneberg (ninth, 11 points) wrap up the 2024 Centennial Conference preseason poll.

The Men's tennis team will kick off the 2024 campaign in Virginia, challenging both Washington & Lee and Christopher Newport in matchups on February 24 on the campus of CNU.

The Centennial Conference Championship First Round begins on May 1, with the semifinals on May 3, and the finals on May 5.
