No. 38 Men's Tennis Wins CC Opener at Muhlenberg, 9-0

ALLENTOWN, Pa - The 38th-ranked Haverford College men's tennis team (1-2, 1-0 CC) secured a decisive 9-0 victory over Muhlenberg (4-2, 0-2 CC) in the Centennial Conference opener on Saturday afternoon indoors at the Dietrich Field House in Allentown.

In doubles, Haverford's top-flight pairing of Kirin Eicher and James McKenzie defeated siblings Sebastian Meyer and Syver-August Meyer in an 8-6 match decision. The team of Adam Chow and Justin Minerva claimed an 8-6 final victory at the second flight against Owen Dyer and Matt Miller, while the third-flight pairing of Aidem Kim and Chait Krishna easily defeated Harrison Neff and William Rose, 8-1. 

Krishna secured the first Haverford victory in singles action, taking down Miller in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. The match was then clinched at the top flight, with Stefan Johnson dispatching Syver-August Meyer in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

Justin Minerva similarly took down Dyer, prevailing 7-5 in the first set before securing a relatively straightforward 6-4 victory in the second. With the match victory assured for the Fords, the second round of matches played indoors were contested as pro sets.

Chow needed just 17 minutes to dispatch William Rose, securing an 8-1 victory, while Niki Lavu and Danny Loder delivered 8-1 and 8-2 wins, respectively, over Muhlenberg players Neff and Joshua Simon.

Haverford now resumes action on Monday, March 11, embarking on their spring break trip to the Orlando area for five matches in five days. The USTA National Campus in the Lake Nona section of Orlando will serve as a home base, with other venues across the region hosting matches.
