Men's Tennis Checks In at No. 46 in ITA Division III Computerized Rankings

Full ITA Rankings Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's tennis team ranks No. 46 in the initial release of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) computerized team rankings, the organization announced on Wednesday.

The ITA computer rankings are determined entirely by an algorithm, which considers accumulated win points and loss points. It takes into account factors such as win-loss records, strength of schedule, and the significance of wins and losses. As the season progresses, the value of each win and loss adjusts to reflect the most recent ranking of the opponent.

Haverford has had a successful start to the spring campaign, boasting a 5-3 record including a current four-game win streak. Victories over Birmingham-Southern, Ithaca, Division I's Colgate, and Trinity (Conn.) have contributed to this recent surge.

Following their spring trip, Haverford first-year Marko Arboleda was named the Centennial Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Arboleda went undefeated in singles play (5-0) over spring break, aiding the Fords to a 4-1 team record in Florida. Notable among his victories was a win at the second flight over North Central, followed by four consecutive wins at the top position, including a victory over Nicolas Luis of Ithaca, a regionally ranked player from the previous year.

Haverford's schedule is filled with matches against ranked teams, including a showdown with No. 17 TCNJ scheduled for Saturday. The Fords are also set to face off against No. 41 Salisbury, No. 11 Swarthmore, and No. 15 Johns Hopkins in upcoming matchups.

The Fords' next challenge is against Stevens on Friday, March 29th, at 3:30 p.m. at the Bramall/Marshall Courts on the Haverford campus.
