HAVERFORD, Pa. - The 48th-ranked Haverford College Men's Tennis Team (7-5) upset  No. 38 Salisbury (10-3), after a thrilling three-set battle on court three ended with Aiden Kim delivering the clincher in the non-conference matchup on Friday afternoon at the Bettye Marshall and Norman B. Bramall Tennis Courts.

Adam Chow and Justin Minverva kicked things off for the Fords on court three, defeating the team of Aron Bursztyn and Mitch Desman 8-6. However, Salisbury picked up the two remaining points in doubles play, as Gianluca Beaujon and Jhayden Pappas prevailed over the pair of Marko Arboleda and Stefan Johnson 8-5, and the team of Caleb Brightman and Gurv Suri took down James McKenzie and Kirin Eicher (8-7, 7-5 tiebreaker), to go up 2-1 with singles play looming.

Niki Lavu was able to deadlock the match at 2-2  after knocking off Bursztyn 6-1, 6-4 in flight number six. The Scarlet and Black continued the momentum in flight five as McKenzie earned his first win of the day, stifling Russell Willenborg 6-2, 6-0, to give the hosts a 3-2 lead.

On court one, Arboleda claimed a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Pappas, to give Haverford some much-needed breathing room, as the Fords held a 4-2 lead with three matches to go.

In a grueling match on court two, Beaujon got the better of Johnson 6-0, 5-7, 7-5, to tack on the Seagull's third point of the match, before the Sea Gulls tied up the match at 4-4 after Suri denied Minerva 7-6 (8-6 tiebreaker), 3-6, 6-4.

With the score tied at 4-4, it all came down to Aiden Kim and Brightman on court three. Kim collected the first set 6-3, before dropping the second set 6-2 to Brightman. The third set was all knotted up at 6-6, forcing a tiebreaker between the two competitors as the sun set and the daylight faded on the Haverford campus.

Kim and Brightman went back and forth in set three, as both men won six games a piece, forcing a crucial tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker, Kim won the first to seven-point race in a sprint, prevailing 7-2, as the sophomore's 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (7-2 tiebreaker) victory triggered the 5-4 upset-victory for Haverford.

Following the big win, the Fords have a quick turnaround ahead of them, as the Bullets of Gettysburg come to the Bettye Marshall and Norman B. Bramall Tennis Courts on Saturday, April 6, with first serve in the Centennial Conference matchup scheduled for 12 p.m.
