HAVERFORD, Pa. – In the third U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) computer rankings, the Haverford College men's indoor track and field team jumped to seventh. It's the second straight week that the Fords have improved their rank as they were placed eighth last week.

Haverford is the only Centennial Conference team in the top 25 computer rankings. The next conference team is Johns Hopkins in 30th.

Head coach Tom Donnelly's squad hosted the annual Seamus McElligott '92 Invitational last weekend and had several winners along with many runners setting personal records in their competitions.

The Fords had the top two runners in the 400m. Junior Jonathan Yellets (52.13) just edged his teammate, senior Sam Callon (52.79), to win the race. Senior Chris Gardner (53.58) was seventh among the 15 runners in the field.

Junior Charlie Marquardt (1:55.98) won the 800m. His time is the 14th quickest in Division III this year. Freshman Henry Woods dashed to his best time of the season with a 1:59.84 which put him in the sixth position.

It's been a banner season for Haverford during the indoor track campaign. Marquardt has won two Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week awards and was named the USTFCCCA Division III National Athlete of the Week after breaking the conference record in the 3000m. Senior David Roza and junior Jeffrey Ainsley have also won the weekly conference honor.

Head coach Tom Donnelly's team will host the Keogh Invitational on Feb. 21. The Eddie Papalia '05 Memorial 800m run will take place as part of the meet. For more information on the memorial run, check out last year's preview.
