USTFCCCA Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The fourth US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) computer rankings has the Haverford College men's indoor track and field team as the No. 9 team in the country. Last week, the Fords were at the No. 7 position.

While the team did not run in any events the past week, junior Charlie Marquardt set a personal record at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday by running the mile in 4:07.90.

Marquardt's original time (4:04.76) was adjusted because of the track size. His mark beat his old personal best by over three seconds and is the best time in the NCAA Division III by over four seconds. The junior finished 24th out of 308 runners in the event that was filled with Division I runners. The Ford now has two of the top 10 Division III times in the mile. He also has the best 3000m time (8:13.36) in Division III.

With his run, the junior was named the Centennial Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the third time this season and fifth time in his career. He's the third member of the indoor track team to win the weekly conference honor as senior David Roza and junior Jeffrey Ainsley were also awarded the accolade.

Head coach Tom Donnelly's team will host the Keogh Invitational on Feb. 21. The Eddie Papalia '05 Memorial 800m run will take place as part of the meet. For more information on the memorial run, check out last year's preview.
