Men's Track & Field Competes in Mideast Regional Qualifier

CHESTER, Pa. – Chasing final personal bests that could elevate athletes to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championship, the Haverford College men's track & field team sent three individuals to compete at the Mideast Regional Final Qualifier hosted by Widener.

Taking the top 20 declared entrants in each event on the men's side to the national meet, Charlie Marquardt recorded the 19th fastest 800 meter time in Division III this season as he crossed the line in a time of 1:50.93. In a very fast field, that time ranked fourth overall. Marquardt also holds the top time in the 1500 meters this spring.

Jeffrey Ainsley and Dylan Verner-Crist also won the events they entered. Ainsley was the top finisher in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 14.81 seconds. Ainsley's best time this season (14.73 seconds at the Centennial Conference Championships) ranks 30th in Division III as of press time. Verner-Crist was the lone entrant in the meet in the 10,000 meters. He finished in a time of 31:46.36. His best time this season (31:17.08) ranks him 42nd in Division III.

The final declared entrants to the NCAA Championships will be announced in the coming days. The national championship meet will run from Thursday, May 26 through Saturday, May 28 in Waverly, Iowa.
