LOS ANGELES – Haverford College outfielder Elizabeth Newman has been named to the Jewish Sports Review 2012 College Softball All-American Team which is comprised of athletes from NCAA Divisions II and III, and NAIA institutions.
Newman, a rising junior on the Fords' squad, started all 36 games of the 2012 campaign and was voted honorable mention All-Centennial Conference. She was also nominated and named to the 2012 Centennial sportsmanship team and earned a spot on the league's academic honor roll.
An offensive force for Haverford in 2012, Newman posted a team-high batting average of .408 -- third best in the conference -- and piled up the most hits (49), runs scored (32, tying the program's single-season record) and stolen bases (9). Her on-base percentage (.474) also topped her teammates.
