PHILADELPHIA - Haverford College senior Jen DiCandilo garnered additional recognition for her standout career on Wednesday when she was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Softball Team for the second straight year as announced by the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA).

Eligible athletes for the all-academic squad must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher and must be in at least the second year at the nominating institution. Voting for the team is conducted by the sports information offices of the 28 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

DiCandilo put the finishing touches on a standout career by batting .295 with a team-high nine doubles in 2014. Voted first-team All-Centennial Conference for the second straight season, DiCandilo extended her overall streak of consecutive starts to 149.

DiCandilo's steady presence in the field and at the plate helped Haverford to a memorable season. The Fords won a program-record 29 games including the program's second Centennial Conference championship and the first two NCAA tournament victories in program history.

A three-time member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, DiCandilo graduated as the program's all-time leader in sacrifice flies (13), doubles (44) and RBIs (118). The third baseman, who merited all-conference honors every year of her career, also ranks second in program history in home runs (12) and total bases (242).

Eleven student-athletes compose the academic all-area squad led by performer of the year Becca Reinhart from Neumann University.
