CLERMONT, Fla. – The Haverford College softball team finished up its week in Florida with an 8-2 win against Drew on Friday morning. The Fords (4-4) have now won four straight games as they prepare to return north.

Haverford finished the week with its strongest offensive performance in Florida as the Fords pounded out 14 hits over seven innings. The team also got a complete game effort from first-year Temma Levis as she scattered nine hits over her seven innings of work as the pitcher of record for the second straight win. Every player in the Haverford lineup finished with at least one hit as Julia Blake (2-for-3) and Ashley Sisto (3-for-4) each knocked in a pair of runs to pace the offense.

Sisto's single to start the second inning was followed by another hit from Levis. A groundout moved those runners into scoring position before Emily Gorman smacked an RBI single into right field for the 1-0 lead. A Rachel Wolfson double and walk to Blake put two runners on base in the next inning. An RBI groundout from Kaitlyn Guild and RBI single from Sisto made the score 3-0 after two and a half innings.

Haverford scored in five of its seven innings up to bat, and added five more runs over the final three innings to cement the win. Sisto and Wolfson each drove in runs during the fifth and sixth inning, while Blake had RBI hits during both frames. A home run from Kendall Chambers, her first of the season, capped the offense in the top of the seventh.

In the circle, Levis allowed her only two runs of the afternoon on a two-run home run during the bottom of the fifth. Although the Rangers did get nine hits on the day, Levis showed great poise and stranded eight runners during the contest.

Softball is next scheduled to play its home opener on Thursday, March 16 against Eastern with that doubleheader slated for a 3 p.m. start. The Fords will also host Widener (Saturday, March 18) during their first week back from Spring Break.
