Trailing 8-2 after four innings of an elimination game during the 2019 Centennial Conference Tournament, the Haverford College softball team unleashed a furious comeback against rival Swarthmore to make the championship series for the fifth time in seven seasons. The Fords got home runs from Julia Blake '19 and Rachel Wolfson '19 during an eight-run fifth inning that saw Haverford take a 10-8 lead. Johanna Batterton '21 then blasted a three-run homer in the sixth inning as the Fords nearly turned an 8-2 deficit into a run-rule victory as they led 16-8. The rival Garnet would eventually score three more runs in the bottom of the sixth as the game ended in a 16-11 final as Haverford racked up 18 hits in the contest.
