Marquis Earns Centennial Conference Player of the Week Award

Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford senior catcher/infielder Abby Marquis has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. The weekly award win is the second of Marquis' career.

Marquis hit .643 (9-for-14) with two doubles, two triples, five home runs, 15 RBIs and nine runs scored in a 4-0 week for the Fords. That effort included a program-best three homers in the first game of a doubleheader at Cabrini on Wednesday as part of a four-homer day.

She slashed a .643/.667/2.143 line and also played stellar defense, splitting time between catcher and the infield. Marquis recorded at least one hit and scored one run in each contest while knocking in multiple RBI in each contest. The Albuquerque, N.M. product leads the Centennial Conference in RBI (25), homers (5), triples (3), and slugging percentage (1.087).

Haverford has now won seven in a row and is off to its best 14-game start in program history. Through two weeks of the regular season, Haverford is just one victory away from matching its win total from all of the 2022 campaign.

Marquis and the Fords will now return to action today with a doubleheader on the docket against Arcadia. Games are slated for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in Glenside.
