CARLISLE, Pa.- The Haverford College softball team (7-17-1, 1-6-1 CC) dropped a Centennial Conference doubleheader with Dickinson  (9-14, 6-2 CC) Saturday, at Dickinson Park on the campus of Dickinson College.

Dickinson 4, Haverford 3

In the batter's box, Lauren Martin and Addie Sapirstein had two hits each for the Fords, with Martin recording one RBI. Sapirstein, Jocelyn Leal, and Abby Litchfield all came around to score once in the narrow 4-3 defeat.

Rachel McQueen and Alexa Finkele both threw three innings of work, giving up just two runs each, with the latter striking out two batters.

Haverford began the scoring in game one, as Martin doubled home Leal, to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the top of the second.

Dickinson answered back in the bottom of the third, as a Kaylie Renner single drove home two, to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.

The Red Devils plated one more run in the bottom of the third after an Eden Blanker sacrifice-fly, to go up 3-1, before the Fords got the offense going again in the top of the fifth.

With Litchfield on second base, Sapirstein slapped a single to the outfield to drive home Litchfield, cutting Dickinson's lead down to 3-2. Sapirstein made it to second base on the single after an infield error, and came around to score after Grace Stowe reached first base due to another error in the field, to knot the game at 3-3.

However, the Red Devils reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the sixth after Zoe Kleeblatt roped a double to left center field, scoring Jessie Sandusky, to give the hosts a 4-3 lead.

Despite Litchfield and Sarah Fan getting on the base paths in the top of the seventh, Dickinson's Abby Kohan escaped the jam, sealing the 4-3 victory for the Red Devils.

Dickinson 9, Haverford 2

Lauren Martin and Maddie Etheridge had two knocks each for the Fords in game two, with the latter contributing one RBI. Mia Kessinger contributed the other RBI during the ball game, as well as tacking on one hit and one run against the Red Devils.

Dickinson opened up the scoring in game two, posting all nine runs in the first three innings of the contest, to go up 9-0 after three full innings. The Red Devils scored the nine runs off of seven singles and two doubles, to take the commanding lead. Erin McMahon highlighted the offense for Dickinson, driving in one run in the first inning with an RBI-single, before driving in two more runs off a two-run single in the third frame.

After Jocelyn Leal got on base with a single in the top of the fourth, Kessinger belted a double down the left field line to plate Leal, as the visitors pulled one run back, 6-1. The very next at-bat Etheridge scored Kessinger off an RBI-single, to trim the Red Devil's lead down to just 9-2.

However, the Haverford bats went cold, as Dickinson shut the door on the Fords in game two, 9-2.

Haverford College Softball heads right back into conference play Sunday, April 14, in Chestertown, Md. to take on the Washington College Shorewomen. The first pitch of the Centennial Conference doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m.
