Women's Soccer Announces 2014 Schedule

2014 Schedule

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Coming off of back-to-back trips to NCAA Tournament, Haverford College women's soccer will embark on a 17-game slate this coming fall under eighth-year head coach Jamie Gluck. The Fords will be at home eight times during the regular season, which gets underway during the final weekend of August.

After hosting their Alumnae Game on August 23, the Fords get the regular season started with the Haverford College Kick-Off Classic. That tournament gets underway on August 30 against Arcadia. Eastern and Scranton will also take part in the classic following the first game. The winners of Saturday's game will advance to Sunday's Championship game at 1 p.m. The consolation game will follow at 3:30 p.m.

Haverford's first road trip will take place on September 6 when the team treks to Stevenson, but returns home on September 13 against DeSales. Centennial Conference play gets underway at Dickinson on September 20. After that conference opener, the Fords host Lebanon Valley (Sept. 24) and travel to both York (Sept. 27) and Moravian (Oct. 1) to close out the non-conference schedule. York was also an NCAA Tournament qualifier in 2013, advancing to the second round.

The final nine games of the regular season will all be Centennial Conference contests. On the home slate for the Centennial Conference will be Gettysburg (Oct. 4), Franklin & Marshall (Oct. 11), Bryn Mawr (Oct. 22), and McDaniel (Oct. 25). The meeting with Gettysburg will be a rematch of last fall's conference tournament semifinal in which the Fords advanced to the conference championship game on penalty kicks.

Road trips for the 2014 conference schedule include Ursinus (Oct. 8), Muhlenberg (Oct. 14), Johns Hopkins (Oct. 18), Washington (Oct. 29), and Swarthmore (Nov. 1). Johns Hopkins won the Centennial Conference Tournament a season ago with a 2-0 win over Haverford. Johns Hopkins went on to advance all the way to the NCAA quarterfinals.

The Fords have won at least 10 games in each of the past five seasons and have qualified for the Centennial Conference Tournament in each of Gluck's first seven seasons as head coach.
