BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Haverford College Women's Soccer team (6-8-2, 2-6-1 CC) went toe-to-toe with the Bryn Mawr Owls (3-9-3, 0-7-2, CC) on Tuesday afternoon, tying 1-1 in what was a highly-contested clash on Applebee Field.

The first significant opportunity of the game went to the Owls in the ninth minute. A long lofted ball from the Bryn Mawr backline bounced into the box towards Owl Rece Anton. The first-year midfielder got a clean header over Lily Buyer on frame. However, Haverford defender Abi Baker raced to the rescue, and booted the promising shot away.

Later on, the Fords found themselves in danger, after a dust up in the box that led to a penalty kick for the Owls. The foul occurred in the 17th minute after a long ball was sent up towards the box from the Bryn Mawr defense. Anton yet again got onto the long pass and got a piece of the ball on frame. In her follow-through, Buyer collided with the Owls' midfielder, and the contact warranted a foul on the Haverford keeper.

Bryn Mawr forward Daniela Dosen slotted the penalty shot to Buyer's right, giving the Owls a 1-0 lead.

The Scarlet and Black nearly snuck in a goal with just seconds remaining in the first half. Following a foul on the Owls, the Fords had a prime opportunity to level the contest with a free kick. With 17 seconds left, Emma Kirk delivered a ball to the back post for Madeline Dosen. The sophomore defender headed the ball on target, but the shot was snagged by Bryn Mawr keeper Aliya Stubenbord, preserving the one-goal lead.

The Fords started the second half as the aggressors, looking to tie the game at one. Just four minutes into the second half, Grace Haskell fired off a shot from outside the box, but was denied by Stubenbord.

Just over a minute later, the Owls found themselves on the doorstep of another goal. Following a foul from Haverford, Bryn Mawr's Sarah Lohrey decided to shoot straight on goal from a free kick. The menacing strike soared in the air and ricocheted off the crossbar and out of play, keeping the game at just a one-goal advantage for the Owls.

After a few more chances throughout the half, the Fords finally broke even, tying the game at one in the 78th minute. After a throw-in from Sophia Miranda, Haskell collected the ball in the box and proceeded to spin away from a swarm of Owls. The junior forward played a pass to Sarah Klink who slotted the ball towards the bottom corner of the net. The shot was deflected by a Bryn Mawr defender and found its way into the back of the net for the goal. The tying goal was Klink's fourth of the season.

Despite troubling shots from Miranda and Haskell in the final minutes, the spirited battle with the Owls ended in a 1-1 tie for the second consecutive season.

The Scarlet and Black ended the game with a 14-10 shot advantage, and outpaced Bryn Mawr in corner kicks 5-3.

Phoebe Garfield, Liv McMilan, and Haskell led Haverford in shots with two each, while Buyer played all 90 minutes and ended the contest with five saves.

The Fords return to historic Walton field one last time for the 2023 season on October 28, as they host the 21st-ranked Garnet of Swarthmore for Senior Day. Kick off is slated for 12 p.m., while the Senior Day ceremony will begin at 11:50 a.m.
