Four Seniors Earn All-Centennial Awards for Women's Soccer

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team had a trio of seniors earn All-Centennial Conference honors. Robin Chernow and Connie Friedman were named second-team All-Centennial Conference picks, while Michelle Babicz was an honorable mention selection. Kristin Hasselgren rounded out the Fords' winners when she was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Starting in goal for the Fords in 14 contests this season, Robin Chernow logged 1,320 of playing time this year. The senior led the Centennial Conference in save percentage (0.861). She posted eight shutouts in her 14 starts, ranking her second in the league. Her 0.68 goals against average was the third-best among her conference peers. Chernow's honor is the third time she has been recognized by the conference as she was an honorable mention all-conference pick in both 2011 and 2013. This season, Chernow was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week on two occasions.

In addition to her accolades from the 2014 season, Chernow will graduate from Haverford as the College's career record holder in goals against average (0.74), wins (42), and shutouts (35). She also tied the school record for games played in goal during her career (73), while ranking second in games started in net (72). Chernow's 277 saves and 0.829 save percentage rank as the sixth-best career totals in Haverford history.

Connie Friedman was the second Haverford player to earn second-team All-Centennial Conference recognition. Friedman's All-Centennial Conference pick as a senior marks the first of her career with the Fords. In 2014, Friedman led the team in nearly offensive category as she was tops on the team in goals (5), points (12), game-winning goals (3), and shots (26). The senior added two assists on the year, ranking second on the Fords in that category.

Friedman scored the game-winning goal against Arcadia in the season opening win as part of the Haverford College Kickoff Classic. She also had game-winning goals against DeSales and Moravian. Her goals in Centennial Conference action came against Dickinson and Bryn Mawr. Friedman will graduate from Haverford in a tie for 14th in program history with 14 career goals.

Like Friedman, senior Michelle Babicz earned her first all-conference selection as senior when she was named honorable mention All-Centennial Conference. A four-year starter for the Haverford defense, Babicz started 16 games during the 2014 season. In addition to helping the team record eight shutouts on the season, Babicz was also second on the team in goals scored (3) and total points (6). Each of her goals came in Centennial Conference play as she scored twice against Bryn Mawr and once vs. Franklin & Marshall. Babicz graduates from Haverford ranked seventh all-time in career appearances (74), while her 68 career starts are tied for 15th in the school record book.

In addition to the three All-Centennial Conference selections, senior Kristin Hasselgren was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team. Hasselgren was another instrumental piece in the Fords' defense in 2014, appearing in all 17 games and making 12 starts.

Women's soccer concluded its 2014 campaign with a 7-7-3 overall record, including a 3-6-1 mark in the Centennial Conference.
