Kathy Prescott Named CC Defensive Player of the Week

Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Kathy Prescott has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for women's soccer as announced by conference officials. The anchor to a defense that has allowed just one goal in its first five games, Prescott has not conceded a goal in the past 384:54 that she has been in goal.

During her most recent week of shutouts, Prescott played the first 79:22 of game action against Eastern before yielding the goal to Ali Weiner, who completed the shutout effort. Prescott made one save in net to help the Fords to a 2-0 victory.

Opening up Centennial Conference action with a big win, Prescott made five saves in a 1-0 victory against Dickinson. The Fords' win over the Red Devils was their first victory since 2012 in the series. Prescott played the full 90 minutes in goal to record her third shutout of the season in that contest.

Prescott currently ranks third in the Centennial Conference with a 0.20 goals against average for the season. Her .938 save percentage is also the third best mark in the conference while her 15 saves are among the top five goalies in the Centennial.

Prescott's strong start to the season has also moved her up the Haverford College career record books as her 0.20 GAA would be a school record if the season ended today. Only Lindsay Festa '09 and her 0.61 goals against average in 2005 was a better mark prior to this season. After nearly breaking the school record with a 0.63 GAA last year, Prescott is the College's career leader with a 0.67 GAA to just edge out Robin Chernow '15 for the top spot in that category. Prescott's 13 wins, which have come in just 19 career starts, rank her 10th in school history.

Women's soccer will be back at home this Wednesday against DeSales. That game will get underway at 4 p.m. The Fords will then travel to Stevenson this Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. start under the lights at Stevenson.
