NCAA Regional Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team is ranked eighth overall in the Mid-Atlantic Region during the NCAA's first rankings release on Wednesday. This set of rankings is the first of four that lead up the selection of at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament. Three will be released over the next weeks while the fourth will be unveiled following the announcement of the tournament field.

Boasting a strong defense that has allowed just six goals in its first 13 games, the Fords have racked up eight victories against just three losses with two ties. Nine different players have scored a goal for Haverford this season while 13 different players have tallied a point.

The Fords are also 3-2-1 in Centennial Conference play heading into the final two weeks of the season. Highlighting those final matches as the Fords look to qualify for the postseason tournament are a home date this Saturday against McDaniel and a trip to Swarthmore to close the regular season next Saturday. McDaniel is third in the latest set of regional rankings while Swarthmore is fourth in the region. The Centennial Conference has a total of four teams among the top nine in the region as Johns Hopkins is the second-ranked team behind Messiah in the Mid-Atlantic.

Haverford is currently sitting in fourth place in the Centennial Conference standings with Gettysburg just one game back in its pursuit of the Fords. Haverford already owns a victory over Gettysburg that came in the beginning of October. Haverford is four points up on Muhlenberg and Ursinus who are looking to get into the conference playoffs. The Fords tied with Muhlenberg and were defeated by Ursinus earlier this month.

Women's soccer begins the second to last week of the regular season with its final two home matches currently on the slate. Bryn Mawr will make the trip to Haverford today to battle the Fords in a 4 p.m. start on Walton Field. McDaniel will come to campus this Saturday in the aforementioned match up starting at 1 p.m. Saturday will also be Senior Day for the Fords.

The NCAA will also release regional rankings on Wed., Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 with the final set of rankings to be released on Mon., Nov. 7 after the NCAA Selection Show.
