Abby Letts Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Women's soccer senior captain Abby Letts has been named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. Letts was one of four defenders who represented District IV, an area that covers all of Pennsylvania's Division III schools. Letts will now advance for voting on the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot with the national team to be announced later this month.

Serving as team captain for her second straight season, Letts has started all 50 games for the Fords during the past three seasons. As part of the Haverford defense, the Fords have allowed just 0.42 goals per game as they have conceded just seven goals in 16 games. The defense has recorded 10 shutouts this season, just one shy of the program record set by the 1995 team.

A season ago, Letts was named a second-team All-Centennial Conference defender. She has also been named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll in each of the past two seasons. In addition to her defensive prowess, Letts is tied for the team lead with three goals this season. She scored the game-winning goal in Haverford's 3-0 victory against Washington College which clinched a spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament.

The Fords are 10-3-3 overall this season with a 4-2-2 record in Centennial Conference play. Haverford has won at least 10 games in three of Letts' four seasons. She and her team will have a chance to increase that total in the coming weeks with the conclusion of the regular season and postseason play.

Women's soccer will wrap up its regular season this Saturday at 7 p.m. with a game at Hood Trophy rival Swarthmore. The Fords can clinch a home contest in the first round of the conference tournament with either or win or a Gettysburg loss or tie on Saturday.
