ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – For the second straight match, the Haverford College women's soccer team played an overtime contest. On Tuesday night, the Fords headed to extra minutes at Eastern only to see the Eagles come away with a 2-1 win 2:34 into the overtime session. That final score came in spite of the fact that the Fords racked up a 20-6 advantage in shots over the 92-plus minutes.

Haverford got its goal during the 51st minute of play off the foot of Hannah Krapes. Her first goal of the year found the upper 90 to beat the Eastern goalie who finished the contest with seven saves. Leanne Ludwick was credited with her first assist of the year and fifth of her career on the goal. Krapes' goal was the third of her career, two of which have now come against Eastern.

Eastern opened the scoring on Tuesday during the 26th minute of play when Melanie Witter volleyed home a header by Ashley Zemeski. That goal came less than five minutes after Katie Safter was denied the game's first goal as her shot glanced off the post. In the overtime session, Eastern saw the only offensive pressure as Alondra Cervantes finished another volley in the box that was played in by Zemeski.

Haverford outshot Eastern by a 13-4 margin in the first half, but four saves from the Eastern keeper kept the visitors off the scoreboard. The Fords owned a 7-1 advantage in shots and 6-0 edge in corner kicks during the second half, but three more saves stopped all but Krapes' goal.

Krapes finished with a team-high six shots on the afternoon. Four other players recorded two shots while a total of 11 players had a shot attempt at goal for the Fords. Julie Hanss made one save during her 92:34 of playing time in goal.

Women's soccer will return home this Saturday for a 1 p.m. start time against St. Mary's (Md.). This weekend's contest will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams and serve as the final preparations for the Fords before the start of Centennial Conference play next week.
