HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's soccer team (3-4-1, 0-2 CC) was stunned by visiting Gettysburg (3-3-1, 2-1 CC), as the Bullets scored in the 90th minute to come away with a 2-1 victory under the lights at Swan Field Saturday night.

In the 12th minute, Gettysburg's Zoe Want took an early corner kick, which led to a beautiful header goal by Elise Fox, assisted by Want. The opening goal gave Gettysburg the 1-0 lead, and set the stage for the back-and-forth rhythm of the contest.

Throughout the first half, both teams continued to push forward with hard-fought shots on goal. Haverford's Liv McMillan had a couple of strong shot attempts, but Alex Jurow was up to the task, making crucial saves to keep her team ahead.

The Fords seemed to be building towards a big moment, and did well to use the turf field to their advantage, playing the ball into the box with strong turns and crisp passes. Haverford remained persistent, and in the 36th minute, Sarah Klink netted an equalizer, tying the score at 1-1 with a floating shot that curled just under the crossbar, setting off a celebration on the field and in the stands.

The first half ended with both teams locked in a tight battle. Haverford was the more aggressive team offensively in the first 45 minutes, with six shots to just two from the Bullets.

Out of the second half gates, Payton Waller of Gettysburg had a powerful header that forced Theresa Haupt to make a crucial save in the 50th minute, keeping the score level. Grace Haskell and Klink each had solid looks on frame for the Fords, who were stymied by the backline of Gettysburg that consistently caught the Fords off angle.

In the 90th minute, with the score tied at 1-1, Gettysburg earned a late corner. Want delivered the ball into the box where a scrum ensued. The ball eventually found the waiting foot of Morgan Hobson at the near post. Hobson flicked a pass to Petra Brown, who was able to one-time a crafty shot past Haupt and into the goal to shock the Fords.

Haverford held a 10-6 advantage in shots, putting five of those on frame. Gettysburg put four on frame. Jurow finished with four saves, picking up her third win of the season. Haupt made four saves for Haverford.

The Fords now make a quick excursion back into non-conference play, heading up to Malvern to take on Immaculata at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest serves as a prelude to another challenging Centennial Conference game on Saturday, September 30 at Dickinson (4 p.m.)
