Dickinson hands women's tennis first conference loss

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team lost their unblemished Centennial Conference mark in a 7-2 loss to visiting Dicksinson College Saturday afternoon on the Marshall Courts.

The Fords (4-4, 3-1 CC) picked up both of their wins from Katie Wettick who earned a 2-1 victory at No. 1 singles after teaming with Jaclyn Porter to capture No. 1 doubles by an 8-3 score.

Fumiko Shogase battled back from a first set loss to win the second set at the No. 5 slot but the Red Devils' Nora Hajnoczky stole the third set for the victory.

Also falling in three sets in another hard fought battle was Haverford's Porter at No. 3 singles.

Dickinson improves to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference with the win.

The Fords make the short trip up the Main Line for their next match, a league contest against host Bryn Mawr College Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
