Women’s tennis drops 8-1 decision to Swarthmore

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team lost to visiting Swarthmore College, 8-1, in a Centennial Conference match Thursday afternoon on the Marshall Courts.

The Fords (12-6, 5-4 CC) lone point came in the No. 1 doubles match. The tandem of Katie Wettick and Alex Ferrara teamed up to defeat Emily Rosenblum and Rosie DeBrin, 9-7. Wettick and Ferrara improve to 13-5 as a team. Katie Drooyan and Kate Donches nearly took a second point in No. 2 doubles. In the end, it was the Swarthmore (9-8, 8-2 CC) pairing of Lia Carlson and Katie Samuelson taking the match, 8-6.

In singles, Wettick put up the best fight before falling in three sets to Carlson, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Haverford closes out the regular season on Saturday, April 23 at Gettysburg at 1 p.m. A win by the Fords will secure the fifth seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament.
