Women’s tennis grabs final postseason berth with road win at Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team locked up the final spot in the upcoming Centennial Conference championship tournament after defeating host Gettysburg College, 6-3, on the final day of the regular season.

The Fords (13-6, 6-4 CC) will be the fifth seed in the tournament and travel to fourth seed Muhlenberg for the opening round Wednesday, April 27.

Haverford won two points in the doubles matches. The newly-formed No. 1 team of Katie Wettick and Helen Fisun picked up an 8-3 win. Kate Donches and Katie Drooyan took the No. 2 match by the same 8-3 count. Donches and Drooyan are 15-4 as a team.

Wettick earned her 13th single win of the year with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Katie Taylor. Fisun improved her win total to 13– and her record at No. 2 to 5-0 – with 6-2, 6-1, win against Kylie O'Sullivan. Drooyan picked up win number 10 after defeating Laura Habecker, 6-4, 6-4, in the No. 3 spot. Donches picked up her first win at No. 4, and 13th of the season, by knocking off Meg Kelly 6-2, 6-4.

Gettysburg closes out its season with a 9-7 overall record, and a 4-6 conference mark.
