Women's Tennis Maintains No. 12 Ranking in Atlantic South

ITA Atlantic South Region Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team held its No. 12 ranking in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic South Region rankings. The Fords (15-4) reached their most recent victory in the Centennial Conference Tournament first round with a 5-0 triumph against Ursinus.

Haverford's 15 team victories this season mark just the sixth time this feat has been reached in program history. That last time Haverford won 15 team duals in a season came during the 1999 campaign. Overall, seven teams from the Centennial Conference are represented in the latest rankings. No. 3 Johns Hopkins, No. 10 Washington College, and No. 11 Franklin & Marshall join the Fords in the Centennial Conference semifinals that will be contested this weekend.

Haverford, seeded fourth in the conference tournament, will next face top-seeded Johns Hopkins. That match is set for Saturday at 3 p.m. on the Blue Jays' home courts in Baltimore. Washington College and Franklin & Marshall will square off in the other semifinal.

The Fords now have five singles players that have reached double figure win totals on the season. Robyn Himelstein is leading the team with 16 victories, playing primarily at the No. 3 singles slot. Abby Payson has 15 wins, while Greta Koch has been victorious in 14 matches on the year. Jessica Liu has 13 wins to her credit, while Caitlin Gallagher has 10 wins as Haverford's top player in the lineup.

In doubles, Gallagher and Himelstein have combined for 13 wins at No. 1 doubles. Koch and Liu have seven wins together as the Fords' primary No. 2 doubles team. A pair of No. 3 doubles teams have three victories on the year, including the Fords' postseason pairing of Kristen Andersen and Payson.
