Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – With the women's tennis season approaching, the annual Centennial Conference coaches poll was released earlier today. The Haverford College women's tennis team was picked to finish fourth in the conference, receiving 69 voting points. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own school.

Johns Hopkins was a unanimous preseason favorite among conference coaches with 10 first-place votes. The Blue Jays have won nine consecutive Centennial Conference Championships. Washington College was projected second, just four voting points ahead of Franklin & Marshall in third. Behind Haverford was Swarthmore, Muhlenberg, Ursinus, Dickinson, Gettysburg, McDaniel, and Bryn Mawr.

Head coach Ann Koger's team finished up the 2015 season with a 15-5 overall record and 7-3 conference record. The Fords lost to eventual conference champion Johns Hopkins in the conference semifinals.

This season, Haverford will look to make an eighth straight Centennial Conference tournament berth. They'll be led by senior Robyn Himelstein, who finished 16-5 and was named to the second-team all-Centennial Conference in doubles, and Greta Kotch, who will look to build on her 14-4 freshman season.

Haverford's season starts during the week of Spring Break as the team travels to Orlando, Fla. The Fords' first match will be March 7 against Alvernia at 8 a.m.
