WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Haverford College women's tennis team swept through McDaniel, collecting all nine team points to record its second straight Centennial Conference victory. The Fords (5-4, 2-1 CC) did not drop a set in their road victory on Saturday.

Fittingly enough, Haverford started the day off with an 8-0 blanking of McDaniel's No. 1 doubles teams. That 8-0 score came courtesy of Robyn Himelstein and Abby Payson. The Fords' No. 1 pairing is now 3-1 together on the season and has won two straight matches.

The second and third doubles were closer, but still ended in comfortable victories for Haverford. Courtney Ahmed and Caroline Steliotes doubled up their opposition from McDaniel with an 8-4 score in their first victory together. Stephany Prodromos and Annika Ulrich won by an 8-5 score at No. 3 singles, a victory that was also their first as a doubles pairing.

Those same six players that set the tone early in doubles came right back in singles to complete the Saturday sweep. Both Himelstein and Payson completed their days without a lost game. Himelstein won her opening game before McDaniel's No. 1 player was forced to retire. The win was Himelstein's team-leading ninth of the season. Payson was a 6-0, 6-0 winner to complete her perfect day at No. 2 singles.

Ahmed and Steliotes were also straight set winners for the Fords by convincing margins. Ahmed allowed just a single game in her first set before cruising to a 6-0 blanking in the second set. Steliotes blanked her opponent in the opening set and was a 6-2 winner to close out the match. Both Ahmed and Steliotes have six singles victories on the year.

With the team score decided, Nos. 5 and 6 singles came down to eight-game pro sets. Ulrich recorded her first win of the dual season with an 8-2 victory in the fifth slot. Prodromos was an 8-1 winner at No. 6 singles and is now 4-2 on the season.

Women's tennis will now prepare for a pair of tough Centennial Conference challenges on the road next week. Up first will be the team the Fords eliminated from last year's Centennial Conference Tournament as they travel to Ursinus for a 4 p.m. match on Tuesday. Haverford will also make a trip to Franklin & Marshall next Saturday at 11 a.m.
