Women's Tennis Ranked No. 13 in Final ITA Atlantic South Poll

ITA Regional Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team finished a successful 2016-17 season as the No. 13 team in the Atlantic South Region as the latest rankings were announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Haverford finished its spring season with a 10-8 overall record, including a 7-3 mark against Centennial Conference competition. Both win totals marked a three match improvement from the previous season.

Haverford came into the season unranked and climbed to as high as No. 12 when the Fords first made their rankings debut. That success on the courts clinched the Fords' eighth Centennial Conference Tournament appearance during the past nine seasons. In all but one of those seasons Haverford made it to the semifinals which the Fords once again accomplished this spring.

To reach the conference semifinals, the Fords beat Washington College by a 5-1 score in the first round matchup on their home courts. That win also saw a significant improvement from the 5-4 victory during the regular season. The Shorewomen finished No. 15 in the Atlantic South Rankings. Haverford also had another regionally-ranked win over Oglethorpe during the team's annual trip to Florida. Oglethorpe was No. 14 in the final rankings.

On top of the success this season, Haverford looks to have a bright future as well with five of the seven players in the Fords' playoff lineup returning for next season.
