Jane Bary Honored as Centennial Player of the Week

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Jane Bary has been selected as the Centennial Conference women's tennis Player of the Week as announced by conference officials. Bary was victorious in both singles and doubles during Haverford's 7-2 victory over Salisbury. The player of the week honor is the first of Bary's career.

Bary joined teammate Emily Shutman at No. 1 doubles for the second straight match against Salisbury as the Fords' top pairing remained unbeaten during the spring season with a 9-7 victory. That match was part of a Haverford sweep in doubles that gave the Fords early momentum against their historically-challenging opponent.

The junior then officially clinched the team victory with a straight set (6-2, 6-2) victory at No. 2 singles.  In her second season at Haverford, Bary is now a combined 24-10 in singles and doubles. She was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team last spring and was honored on the conference's academic honor roll.

Her two victories helped Haverford top Salisbury for the first time since the 2012 season and just the second time in the series' nine total match ups.

Women's tennis is currently in Florida for three matches during the College's Spring Break. Bary and the rest of her teammates will get their competition for the week underway against Schreiner on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
