HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team is ranked No. 13 in the first complete Atlantic South Regional rankings which were announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) this week. The Fords also have a regionally-ranked doubles team as Jane Bary and Emily Shutman are currently the No. 13 ranked paring in the region.

Haverford concluded its 2016-17 campaign ranked 13th in the region and the Fords have ramped up their intensity this year with a 6-1 start to the spring season. The team is currently riding a six-match winning streak after taking a setback against nationally-ranked New York University in its spring debut. That winning streak, which features back-to-back wins to start the Centennial Conference season, is the team's longest since it won seven straight matches during the 2015 season.

The No. 1 pairing of Bary and Shutman is currently 5-2 playing together this spring at the No. 1 position. A strength overall for the team, Haverford has won over 76 percent of its doubles matches and features a 6-1 combined record at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 spot in the lineup also sports a 5-2 mark to date this spring.

Haverford also features a 3-3 mark at No. 1 singles and a winning record at every other spot in its singles lineup. Julia Gan is currently 3-2 at No. 1 singles and leads the Fords with seven total singles victories dating back to the fall. Greta Koch and Shutman also have four singles victories this year while nine different players have multiple wins in singles.

Women's tennis is away from competition this weekend but will have two big matches coming up next week. On Wednesday, the Fords will battle Washington College on their home courts at 4 p.m. in a rematch of last year's Centennial Conference first round contest. Haverford will travel to Franklin & Marshall next Saturday for a 12 p.m. match against the team that placed third in the conference standings a season ago. F&M is ranked 15th in Atlantic South Region while Washington College is currently sitting 20th overall.
