BALTIMORE – Following a thrilling victory over rival Swarthmore during the Centennial Conference semifinals, the Haverford College women's tennis team fell to top-seeded and nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins by a 5-0 score on Sunday during the conference's championship match.

Each of the doubles matches went to the host Blue Jays by 8-3 scores. The No. 1 pairing of Julia Gan and Greta Koch finished its season with nine victories together. The No. 2 doubles team of Emily Shutman and Julia Gan capped its season with a combined 10 victories together. Haverford's third doubles, featuring Clara Farrehi and Natalie Williams, suffered its first defeat when paired together this spring.

Johns Hopkins clinched the team score with victories at No. 1 and No. 6 singles. Julia Gan finished her sophomore season with 10 victories, while Sam Berg added eight more during her first year with the team.

Nos. 2-5 singles each went unfinished as the match reached decision. Senior Greta Koch was leading in the second set of her final collegiate match before the team score was decided. She capped her senior season with 11 wins and totaled 38 in singles during her career. Jane Bary and Emily Shutman finished the year tied for the team lead with 13 victories. Bary finished this spring on a 13-match winning streak. Clara Farrehi's match also went unfinished as she capped the year with nine victories in singles.

Women's tennis was making its second appearance all-time in the Centennial Championship match, with the other occasion coming during the 2014 season.
