Andrew Cohn Announces Resignation as Women's Tennis Coach

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Women's tennis head coach Andrew Cohn has announced his resignation to accept the same position at Trinity University (TX). Cohn came to Haverford at the start of the 2017-18 academic year and spent three years with the Fords, leading the team to its first-ever national ranking.

Haverford debuted in the national rankings during the final poll of the 2018 season after advancing to the Centennial Conference Championship match for just the second time in program history. Playing a nationally competitive schedule, Cohn guided the Fords to a 24-15 record over his three seasons. Haverford made the Centennial Conference Tournament during each of his first two years before the remainder of the 2020 season was cancelled in March.

The Fords combined for nine All-Centennial Conference performers in singles and doubles under Cohn's guidance and were consistently ranked within the Atlantic South Region as a team. Just this past spring, Cohn helped mentor the pairing of Natalie Williams '21 and Anne Tobin '22 to a regional ranking in doubles. That accomplishment marked the highest regionally-ranked doubles team for the Fords during the past decade. Both Williams and Tobin will return to a Fords team next year that features eight returners from the 2019-20 season.

Haverford's success during Cohn's tenure was not limited to the playing courts as every eligible student-athlete was named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll during the 2020 season. That group included 2020 William W. Ambler '45 Award recipient Clara Farrehi '20 who was honored as having the highest cumulative GPA among all senior student-athletes in her class. Farrehi was also named the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year following her junior and senior seasons. A total of 23 student-athletes were named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll during the past three years while the Fords also garnered ITA All-Academic Team status every season.

Cohn joined the Fords after previously serving as the assistant coach at Pomona-Pitzer. During his four years with the Sagehens, he was a two-time ITA National Assistant Coach of the Year and helped guide his alma mater to the national championship match in 2017. Cohn also had the opportunity to spend two spring season seasons (2014, 15) and one fall season (2016) as the interim head coach at Pomona-Pitzer.

A national search will be immediately undertaken for Cohn's replacement.
