Russano Tabbed as CC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. -  Haverford senior Abbey Russano has been named the Centennial Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced in a release on Tuesday morning.

Russano, a product of Bridgewater, N.J., had a nearly perfect week for the Fords on the annual spring break excursion to Central Florida,  as she went 4-1 at No. 1 singles and 5-0 at the top doubles flight, pairing with Ellie Esterowitz. Russano rattled off wins over Peyton Oda of No. 25 Denison as well as the top flight doubles pairing for the Big Red.

This is the second weekly honor for Russano, who earned qualification to the NCAA Singles Tournament after her sophomore season in 2022. Russano, a two-time All-Conference pick for singles and a doubles selection last season, figures to be in a good position to earn a regional ranking after the strong start to the 2023-24 campaign.

Women's Tennis will face tough competition ahead, with matches against No. 26 Mary Washington and No. 23 Christopher Newport scheduled for March 29th and 30th, respectively in Virginia.
