Esterowitz, Russano Pick Up Regional Rankings From ITA

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released the Division III Women's National Singles and Doubles Rankings, as well as the Regional Singles and Doubles Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point for April 3, 2024, with a pair of Haverford players picking up a regional ranking in the initial 2024 release. Additionally, the Fords are ranked No. 34 in the national computerized rankings and No. 9 in the Atlantic South Regional Rankings.

The doubles pairing of Ellie Esterowitz and Abbey Russano, who have represented the Fords in singles at the NCAA Championships each of the last two seasons, are currently ranked number eight in the Atlantic South. The pairing is the second-ranked squad in the Centennial, behind only Erica Stutz and Nathalie Williams of Swarthmore. They have gone 10-3 so far this season, including 7-2 during the dual-match portion of the campaign.

Individually, Esterowitz is ranked 14th in the Atlantic South, while Russano checks in at 17th. Esterowitz has compiled a 7-5 record so far this season, including a 4-3 start to the dual-match campaign. She has won six out of her last 10 singles matches. Russano has compiled a 6-4 record so far this season, including a 4-3 mark in the dual-match campaign, appearing exclusively at the top flight.

Haverford is ninth in the Atlantic South as a team, with Emory, Johns Hopkins, Sewanee, Washington & Lee, Carnegie Mellon, Christopher Newport, Mary Washington, and Swarthmore ahead of the Fords in the regional ranking while Haverford checks in above 10th-ranked Averett.

Haverford has sprinted out to a 2-0 start in Centennial Conference play with 9-0 sweeps of both Muhlenberg and Ursinus. The Fords will continue the CC slate on Saturday, April 6, hosting Gettysburg for a 12 p.m. first serve with the Bullets.
