Fords compete at Terrier Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. - The Haverford College women's indoor track team competed against some of the best runners in the East this weekend at the Boston University Terrier Invitational.

The distance medley relay team of Phoebe MillerHannah Davis, Kathryn Balmer, and Sara Hess claimed the Fords' highest finish of the weekend as it ran to eighth place with a time of 12 minutes, 23.64 seconds on Saturday. Miller, Davis, and Hess also had strong showings on Friday as they clocked season-best times in their individual events. Miller finished the 800 meter run in 2:21.32, Davis had a 1:02.21 finish in the 400 and Hess ran to a 5:14.49 finish in the mile.

Mariah Braxton added a strong effort as she registered a career indoor best of 1:03.42 in the 400. Mary Morgan came close to duplicating that effort in the 800 as her time of 2:24.10 was just short of her career-best by 2/100s of a second.

The 3,000 offered another round of season-bests from Andrea Tocci, 10:44.64, and Rachael Potter, 11:08.27, while Flora Berklein and Kaitlyn Shank ran to career-best indoor times of 10:49.21 and 10:52.23, respectively.

Charlotte Lellman ran the third fastest time by the Fords in the 5,000 this season with a time of 19:10.20.

Kylie Lipinski had another strong outing for the Fords as she grabbed the highest inidividual finish for the Fords with a 12th in the triple jump. Freshman Carolyn Oehrig continued an impressive first-year campaign with a season-best leap of 4.67 meters (15 feet, 4 inches) in the long jump.

Haverford returns to competition this weekend as it hosts the Seamus McElligott meet at Alumni Field House.
