Several Fords register season-best marks at Seamus McElligott Invite

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's indoor track team received an array of strong performances on Saturday afternoon as they hosted the Seamus McElligott Invitational at The Gary Lutnick Tennis & Track Center in Alumni Field House.

Competing in the 800 meter run for the first time this season, Katie Balmer finished second with a time of 2 minutes, 18.70 seconds. The sophomore's time currently sits third on the Centennial Conference's event performance list. Erin Seglem took fifth and Katherine Greifeld also ran well with a career-best effort (2:25.70) that was good for ninth.

Hannah Davis placed third in the 400 as the Fords registered five third-place finishes on the day. Davis' season-best time of 1:01.65 ranks third in the conference this season.

Haverford went 3-4 in the mile as Cara Keifer finished in a career-best time of 5:15.66 and Nora Weathers closely followed with a collegiate best of 5:15.76. Those times both crack the Centennial top 10 in sixth and seventh, respectively.

Fiona Hendry and Kelley Riffenburgh duplicated the 3-4 finish in the 5,000 meters. Hendry's first collegiate attempt at the 5,000 resulted in a third-place finish of 17:42.29 while Riffenburgh took fourth with a career-best time of 18:16.28. Hendry's time ranks second on the conference performance list while Riffenburgh's effort sits in fourth.

The Fords' 4x400 relay team also had a solid day as it took second in 4:09.89.

Allison Guindon and Robin Chernow provided the final top finishes for Haverford from field events as they placed  third in the pole vault and shot put, respectively.

Continuing to prepare for the Centennial championships at the end of the month, the Fords return to action next weekend as they split up to take part in the Lafayette/Rider Meet at the Armory in New York City and the "Quick" Invite hosted by Tufts University. Both meets take place on Friday.
