Women's indoor track competes at Ursinus Open

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College women's indoor track & field team kicked off a busy weekend by competing in the Ursinus (College) Open.

Junior Charlotte Lellman earned the Fords' highest finish of the day with fourth place in the mile. Lellman's career-best time of 5 minutes, 31.12 seconds was right in front of senior Bridget Freeley's season-best time of 5:32.50 that was good for fifth. Seniors Flora Berklein (eighth, 5:39.20), Nora Howe (11th, 5:51.60) and Helen Farley (14th, 5:5.31) also finished in the top half of the 30-person field.

Three Haverford runners finished in the top 10 in the 400-meter dash as senior Mariah Braxton led the way with a season-best time of 1:05.69 that was good for sixth. Senior Stephanie Kahn and junior Katherine Greifeld took eighth (1:06.25) and ninth (1:06.29), respectively.

Brittany Steele added another chapter to a standout freshman campaign. Steele placed fifth (8.10 seconds) in the 60m dash and then finished seventh (27.73) in the 200.

Sophomore Molly Allen also ran well as she finished seventh with a career-best time of 2:35.17 in the 800-meter run.

Participating in only five of the 15 events, the Fords finished eighth overall in the team scoring with 22 points. Stockton College claimed the team title with 136 points.

A handful of team members will compete Saturday at the Tufts (University) Cupid Challenge.
