Greifeld Named Centennial Track Athlete of the Week

Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Katherine Greifeld has been named the Centennial Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week after a very successful showing at the Tiger Open hosted by Princeton University. Greifeld competed in two events and made her way into the College's top 10 during both of these races.

Greifeld began her day at the Tiger Open with a 12th place finish in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:07.1. That time ranked her third in Haverford's top 10 for the event. Greifeld was fourth overall in her heat. She ranked fourth overall among division III runners in the event and beat out five NCAA Division I runners in the field of 22.

Closing the day on a high note, Greifeld ran the second leg of the Fords' distance medley relay. Haverford's time of 12:33.96 moved the team up to No. 3 in the national rankings. The Fords placed seventh overall in that relay behind five teams from Princeton and the Williams "A" squad. The Ephs are ranked No. 1 in Division III in the distance medley relay. The Fords' DMR became the eight fastest quartet in program history. Nora Weathers, Katie Balmer and Kelley Riffenburgh also ran in the relay.

Greifeld's most recent weekend on the track continues a stellar start to the senior's final indoor campaign. She placed eighth in the 800 meters during the NYC Gotham Cup last weekend to go along with a second place relay finish in the DMR. Greifeld also won the 800 meters during the team's dual meet with Widener in December.

Both the men's and women's indoor track & field teams will travel north to the Tufts Invitational this weekend. That meet is slated for Saturday, January 31.
