COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Haverford College women's indoor track & field team entered the 2016 Centennial Conference Championship with six top seeds. However, on Saturday it was fourth-seeded Amelia Keyser-Gibson who stole the show as she won the 5,000 meters. The other six top ranked individuals and relays will be in action Sunday.

Running in the final women's event in a modest opening first day, Keyser-Gibson became Haverford's 10th champion in the indoor 5,000 meters as she crossed the line in a time of 17:34.59. The sophomore's first career conference individual title marked a repeat in the event for Haverford as Kelley Riffenburgh '15 took home the title a season ago with a school record time of 17:24.61. Her time shaved nearly 30 full seconds off her previous personal PR and now ranks her fourth in school history and 17th among Division III runners this season.

Haverford also got points in the 5,000 meters from senior Maggie Heffernan as she crossed the line in sixth place with a time of 18:23.41. That finish earned the Fords three points. MaryKate Cavanaugh (12th), Molly Allen (17th), Julia Smith (18th), and Alison Love (21st) also contested the event.

The Fords also got another All-Centennial Conference worthy performance from triple jumper Elizabeth Reikowski. Reikowski's best leap of the day was 10.51 meters (34-5.75) and earned her team six points for the third place finish. Reikowski's finish was the highest placement of her career across both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Grace Mathis (13th) and Brittany Steele (16th) were also contestants in the triple jump for Haverford.

Day one of the conference championship saw Haverford score in each of the events in which it had an entrant on the women's side. The rest of the team, including the Fords' six top seeded entrants, will be in action tomorrow for the second of final day of the championship meet. The Fords are currently in third place overall with 19 points with three of the 18 events scored.

The first event the Haverford women will contest on Sunday will be the distance medley relay, one of the six events in which the Fords claimed the top ranking in the conference during the regular season.
